Textile Waste Collection & Sorting

A collection and sorting operation supplying Uşak's recyclers with steady, good-quality textile waste. Uşak handles 75% of Turkey's textile recycling; what is missing is reliable supply. EU circular-textile rules and extended producer responsibility are growing demand on the collection side.

About the idea

Concept: collect pre-consumer cutting waste from garment workshops and used textiles from municipal, school and institutional channels; sort by fibre and colour, bale, and supply Uşak's regenerated-yarn producers on a regular schedule. Revenue: per-tonne sales of sorted, baled waste, with annual framework contracts for steady supply. Why here: Uşak handles 75% of Turkey's textile recycling, and its plants need steady, good-quality feedstock. Denizli's garment industry is a ready source of cutting waste. Why now: EU circular-textile rules and extended producer responsibility push brands and their suppliers to collect waste traceably. First step: ask 2–3 Uşak recyclers which fibre and colour grades they buy and at what price; sign waste hand-over agreements with 10 garment workshops.

Risks and mitigation

Waste price swings, the cost of sorting mixed or soiled material, collection logistics and waste-licence requirements. Mitigation: start with clean cutting waste, agree grades and prices with buyers in advance, and clarify licensing early with the provincial environment directorate.
