Denizli ranks 12th in Türkiye for almonds: a modern harvest in Acıpayam

According to Denizli Metropol, almonds grown with modern methods were harvested in Ucarı, a neighbourhood of Acıpayam district. Denizli Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger, Acıpayam District Governor Ramazan Cankaloğlu, Denizli Commodity Exchange Chair İbrahim Tefenlili and Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mustafa Nevzat Zayim attended the harvest together with local growers.

According to the statement quoted in the report, TÜİK data for 2025 show 1,872 tonnes of almonds produced on 1,908 hectares in Denizli, and total production for 2026 is estimated at 5,819 tonnes. The province supplies about 1.5% of Türkiye’s almonds, ranking 12th nationally and 3rd in the Aegean region. Alongside Nonpareil, Texas, Ferragnes and Ferraduel, newer licensed varieties such as Makako, Vairo and Lauren are also grown.

Officials said Acıpayam has about 99 hectares of almonds and 930 hectares of walnuts. In Ucarı, where the harvest took place, a nut company runs 100 decares of almond and 136 decares of walnut orchards planted as dedicated blocks. These orchards were presented as a model for spreading alternative crops and introducing growers to new varieties.

In dedicated almond and walnut orchards, yield and quality depend heavily on irrigation; drip irrigation, soil moisture monitoring and solar pump automation are practical ways to use water carefully. Grant conditions for water-saving irrigation should be confirmed with the provincial directorate and the year’s implementation guide.
